Christmas Past & Present

We begin with a walk through 400 years of Christmas Past at the wonderful Geffrye Museum and go on to see the ice rink at Somerset House. Then it is your choice: a full London Christmas Lights & Sights Special Tour on your coach or a 90-minute floodlit cruise from the Palace of Westminster all the way to the Old Millennium Dome now renamed The O2.

Christmas is celebrated in authentic historic style at the Geffrye Museum. This is the museum of the English living room with recreated rooms spanning from Tudor times to the modern day and beautifully presented at these old Ironmongers alms houses. The period rooms sparkle with festive decorations and 400 years of Christmas tradition come to life as the visitor is given a glimpse of the traditions, rituals and decorative styles once common in English homes. And with rooms from the 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s it’s all rather nostalgic too.

If you choose Christmas Past & Present with the full London Christmas Lights & Sights Special Coach Tour you’ll meet the Guide at The Geffrye Museum at 3-30pm and will be heading home by 7-30pm.

For the Christmas Cruise option you’ll meet our Guide at the Barbican Centre at 1-45pm to drive together to The Geffrye and after the museum visit, coach tour and Christmas Cruise you will be heading home from the Pier at The Old Millennium Dome (The O2) at 7-15pm.

Come and have refreshments at The London Barbican Centre where our tour guide will meet your coach for the ten-minute transfer to The Geffrye Museum to begin the entertainments with an hour to enjoy the Christmas room displays. Afterwards we travel by coach to Somerset House where the magic of the Christmas season is tangible. Flaming torches, a huge tree and the romance of the ice rink itself are all set against an elegant 18th century backdrop. Marvellous stuff and still your coach tour or Christmas Cruise to come.
