|
The Cotswolds are Laurie Lee Cider with Rosie Country |
Come and meet your Guide in Cirencester at 10-30/10-45am for
morning coffee and biscuits served in at 18th century coaching inn in a narrow lane just off the Market Square and
included in your tour fee. With your group looking forward to coming back to this attractive pub for lunch it's a
winning start to a great day out.
After morning coffee sit back and enjoy a drive to Bibury, which was described by the artist William Morris as £the most beautiful village in England" and indeed its setting on the River Coln is most picturesque. We stop to walk across the stone bridge and take a closer look at Arlington Row, a long, low terrace of 17th century stone weavers' cottages. Back to the pub for bacon and leek pudding or a vegetarian alternative. You can buy bar drinks, hot drinks and desserts to suit individual requirements, but the main meal included in the tour fee.
After lunch and just a stone's throw away from the pub your group can enjoy the German style Christmas Market. Folk can choose to shop the entire afternoon away or after an hour visiting the stalls people can choose to meet up again with the Guide and without walking a great distance we can show you the rich heritage of of what was the second largest city in Roman Britain. Whenever possible we visit the parish church of St. John the Baptist. Larger than some English cathedrals, this is one of the grandest and most beautiful of the Cotswold wool churches.
There are plenty of tea opportunities on offer in and around the Market Square to round off an enjoyable day in the honey-coloured Cotswolds before heading home at 4-45pm.
