The Mighty Wurlitzer Christmas Concert
|
||||||||
|
Now in its fourth year, and always well received as something rather different, this is a charming afternoon matinee with sherry & mince pies combined with an early evening tour of the London Christmas Lights. |
|
Our Christmas Concert is guaranteed to make your folk smile |
Arrive in West London by 2-30pm and enjoy the spectacle of our one hour seasonal concert followed by a jolly drive into central London for the London Lights & Sights Tour. Having launched your Christmas celebrations in fine style you’ll be heading home by 6-45pm.
It is a wonderful moment when a hush falls in the auditorium and we first hear the distant but unmistakable tones of The Mighty Wurlitzer moments before it begins to rise majestically from the orchestra pit just as it once did at the cinema - in this particular case The Regal Kingston-upon-Thames. The concert programme includes seasonal tunes, novel pieces and entertaining comic monologues designed to demonstrate the vast range and musical capability of this amazing organ.
In addition our Master of Ceremonies will play a festive arrangement on the Pianola and demonstrate the only instrument in the world that you play without touching – the Theremin. Designed in Russia, initially as part of a spy research programme the ethereal and rare Theremin is best known from the Star Trek music but also pops up in unexpected places – the theme tune for Midsomer Murders for example! This is an unusual, charming and beautifully presented concert guaranteed to put a smile on your face this Christmas.
This year the “concert & tour” dates are as follows:
Tuesdays 20 & 27 November,
Wednesdays 21 & 28 November
Thursdays 22 & 29 November
Arrive at The Musical Museum in Brentford at 2-30pm ready for lights down at 3-00pm. After the concert enjoy sherry and mince pies before returning to the coach joined by a first class Blue Badge Guide for an entertaining drive into central London to see the pick of the 2012 crop of London Christmas Lights & Sights.
We’ll round off the trip with a stop for refreshments at either Somerset House or the Natural History Museum Ice Rink (you chose) and you’ll be heading home at the not-too-late time of 6-45pm.
