Visiting the London 2012 Olympic Venues

By the end of 2011
some 1200 groups will have visited the London Olympic venues with City & Village Tours. Now is the
time to come to see this exciting project take shape. Our choice of
Olympic venues trips will continue to be available throughout 2011 and we will be taking bookings right through
until the end of May 2012.
We will not be able to take you into the Olympic Park this side of the
Games themselves. No one can.* For security reasons the whole park is on quarantine lock down but from the elevated
viewing point and from high in your coach on the perimeter roads you can see it all. In the months ahead there will
be striking visual changes as the Olympic Park is gradually transformed from a sea of mud to a leafy green oasis
with the buildings starting to take on their finished appearance.
Of course our Blue Badge Guides who are all officially accredited through the specialist Olympic
and Paralympic course will be right up to speed on all the latest 2012 news and gossip. So there’s always
something new to learn and our approach to the commentary and itinerary for your day will reflect if it’s
your first visit or if you are in the growing band of “expert returnees”!
We have our classic Olympic London Explorer, with
morning coffee and a roast beef or carvery lunch included, is best suited for groups who can arrive in
London at 10-30/10-45am.
This itinerary is also available in a later start format for groups coming from further afield
who cannot arrive in London too early. The Olympic Lunch
Special does everything the Explorer does but starts in London at noon with a tasty roast chicken
lunch.
An ideal day for your second visit is Land of Hope &
Glory which visits the main Stratford Olympic Park viewing point but also takes in meeting the young
servicemen at the Royal Artillery attraction Firepower in the historic Woolwich Arsenal. This day includes
morning coffee and a roast chicken lunch.
The Lee Valley
Olympic Tour is our unique day that visits the London Olympic Venues at the gritty urban end of the Lee
Valley and takes in a cream tea cruise at the leafy rural end. Again this is a good choice for returning
visitors eager to chart progress on the Olympic Park but looking for a day with a difference.
Come Christmas time we have two entertaining options. The Olympics, The Lights & Ten Miles of Liquid History combines a
visit to the Olympic Park viewing point during the afternoon, a zip around the London Christmas Lights as
dark falls followed by a dark cruise on the River Thames.
The Olympics &
The Lights does exactly what it says on the tin. During daylight hours we visit the Olympic Park view
point and then as dark falls we enjoy an entertaining tour of Christmas London with the best of the Lights and
the shop windows. This tour also includes a trip down memory lane with a visit to the Museum of Childhood at
Bethnal Green.
Please note that our tours are not officially endorsed by,
or in any way associated with, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, the
Olympic Development Authority or the Olympic and/or Paralympic Movement more generally. Please do not use official Olympic logos or trademarks in publicising these
trips.
*It is possible for
small groups of up to fifteen people to book onto a free bus tour inside the Olympic Park. This tour is run
by the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and is only available weekends and Bank Holidays. It is
heavily oversubscribed. For bookings and further information please call them direct on 0300 2012
001.
